about

Tommy Wiggins takes the listener on an emotional and psychedelic Vietnam War-era sonic tour of duty from boot camp to the ride home.

In the fall of 1987, Penumbra, Minnesota's Black Professional theater company, commissioned Tommy Wiggins to score for what was to become a critically acclaimed and very cathartic production of John Difusco's TRACERS. The play, directed by Marion McClinton is powerful theater that hurts, awakens, then challenges the viewer to come to grips with the nightmares of our Vietnam Vets.

TRACERS the recording, stands on its own to similarly provoke and challenge the listener.

"My Vietnam was the "Hell no, we won't go!" of peace marches and demonstrations. A college deferment kept me from the hells of Southeast Asia, but 59,000 guys my age never came home. Countless others still carry the deep emotional scars of this war. Collectively we have finally woken up. We owe a lot to these men and women who paid for our freedoms with their blood." Tommy Wiggins

Standout compositions include Heroin Dreamscape (Let's
get high and watch the tracers.) and Dance of the Hunters.
