about

Stephen Carl “The Duckman” Wiesner was born on June 16, 1954, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Thomas Sr. and Dorothy (Braasch) Wiesner. He attended North St. Paul High School. On September 5, 1987, Stephen married Cassandra Graves. They later divorced but the family bond continued.
Stephen loved raising ducks and caring for all animals. He was an all-around conservationist and humanitarian. He lived a life full of experiences and was an independent spirit.
Many will remember his fu manchu mustache, being a champion foosball player, pool shark, and a very good musician playing the bass, drums, guitar and singing. He also enjoyed wildlife sketching. Stephen was very handy, a jack of all trades and enjoyed doing carpentry projects. He always cheered on the underdogs and would do anything he could to help people succeed. Most of all, Stephen loved to be with his family, especially his children.

Stephen passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Vibra Hospital in Fargo at the age of 68, after complications with his diabetes. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Wiesner of Alexandria; sons, Drake Wiesner of Alexandria and Scout Wiesner of Wahpeton, ND; grandchildren, Mia and Jackson Wiesner; brothers, Thomas Jr. (Georgia) Wiesner of Nashville, TN, and William Wiesner of Kensington; niece and nephews, Sarah (Michael) Walker, Matthew, William Jr., and Jeffrey Wiesner. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Dorothy; and infant sister, Patricia Wiesner.
Steve’s ashes were added to Tamarack Lake, one of his favorite duck hunting spots on Saturday October 1, 2022 by his extended family. We then joined together for a meal, to sing songs and to tell stories about Steve. Rest in peace, Stephen Carl “The Duckman” Wiesner.

lyrics

Letting Go
Brother, you have lived your share of troubles
The hour is near as you prepare to go
Children by the bedside there to see you
Off into the next life, letting go
Letting go, letting go

Mom and dad, they raised their boys to question
Ain’t nobody tells them what to do
Look us in the eye and try to shape us
We’ll tell you where to go and what we’ll do
‘bout letting go, letting go

Out there on the flyway
North Dakota plain
Duckman looking northward
in the Autumn rain
Bro, you did it your way
Your passion was your pain
All that remains
Is letting go

You have always been a complicated man
Quick to anger, hard to understand
but we know your heart is filled with love
for your family, and up above
You’ll be letting go, letting go

Out there on the flyway
North Dakota plain
Duckman looking northward
in the Autumn rain
Always did it your way
Your passion was your pain
All that remains
Is letting go
I’m letting go
We’re all letting go
